I would like to broaden my knowledge on other aspects in design, this is why I am interested in looking at furniture design, architecture, or craft and relating it back to graphic design. I am interested in trying to observe and understand the boundary between architecture / furniture design and graphic design, and how we as viewers, users, consumers, and products of, interpret the language of these disciplines. In general, 3D design is something I would like to explore and research. It is clear that you can see through the artistic movements through the eras that all art and design disciplines reflect each other in different ways, whether it be through form, ideologies or function.
Another topic I am interested in exploring is the meaning of graphic design, and where it stops being graphic design and crosses over on to something else. This leads to looking in to where the line between art and design lies, where then I could explore the two, questioning the philosophy behind the purpose of art.
I am also interested in looking in to the psychology behind graphic design, and what good ‘taste’ really means in design exploring other areas of design such as furniture design, architecture and product design in this way. I could also look in to the psychology behind advertising as this is another area of graphic design in which I haven’t touched on before.
